Dr. Albert Dorsey Jr. earned his Ph.D. in United States History from Florida State University in 2012. His teaching and research interests include African American history, the American Civil War and Reconstruction, Black land ownership in Mississippi, the long civil rights movement (with a particular focus on Black intellectual protest rhetoric) and the history of jazz music. His current book manuscript, Vicksburg’s Massacre: The Complexities and Consequences of Black Participation in the Body Politic and Land Ownership in the Age of Redeemer Violence, is under review with the University Press of Mississippi for publication.
