Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Atmospheric Sciences – EARTH SYSTEM SCIENCE
College of Science, Engineering, and Technology

Join us in unraveling the mysteries of our planet through the lens of Earth systems science. Our program offers a dynamic and interdisciplinary approach to understanding the Earth as a complex, interconnected system.

Earth System Science

Earth System Science is an exciting, interdisciplinary field that examines the Earth, atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, and space as interconnected systems. Changes in one part of the Earth can have far-reaching effects on the entire system. Our program is designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of the Earth as a unified and dynamic system.

By pursuing a degree in Earth System Science, you will join a diverse community of scientists and professionals, including geologists, meteorologists, oceanographers, hydrologists, environmental scientists, public health scientists, educators, and policy makers. Together, we confront critical environmental issues facing society and work to protect our planet for future generations.

As a student in our program, you will have the opportunity to conduct research on a wide range of topics, including environmental geology, coastal and ocean-related topics, atmospheric science, remote sensing, geospatial information science, and modern climate variability. You will gain the knowledge and skills needed to make a real difference in the world.

Join us in our mission to understand and protect the Earth. Apply to our Earth System Science program today and become part of a community dedicated to addressing the challenges of our changing planet.
