Healthcare Administration

Welcome to Healthcare Administration, and thank you for choosing to visit our website.

Healthcare Administration is one of the largest undergraduate programs in the School of Public Health. Consistent with the values and mission to which the Jackson State University (JSU) and the School of Public Health are committed, the educational mission of the Program is to prepare students for entry-level supervisory positions in healthcare, as well as for entry into graduate and professional schools.  We have a cadre of committed faculty focused on preparing our students to manage, direct and coordinate the delivery of health services in various settings, from major metropolitan health centers and long-term care facilities to clinical practices operated by groups of physicians.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the healthcare management profession has experienced significant growth over the past two decades, and that trend is expected to continue into the foreseeable future.  On a daily basis, healthcare administrators plan, organize, and coordinate the resources of health service organizations.  They work to create the best possible working environment for physicians, nurses, therapists, and other allied health professionals who directly provide medical care.  If you have the desire to assist in ensuring the effective delivery of health services on a community or systems level, and assist in building and managing the environments in which clinicians practice, then Healthcare Administration is for you.

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Healthcare Administration, I invite you to explore the opportunities that we offer.  It is our hope that you will select JSU to continue your academic preparation for a career in Healthcare Administration.  We look forward to serving you in the near future.
