The Department of Journalism and Media Studies (JMS) at Jackson State University believes in telling stories that matter—which is why we train our students to become professional storytellers and communicators through a variety of mediums, including broadcast, print, and digital.

With a Mass Communications degree from JMS, you can successfully pursue careers in fields like public relations, journalism, sports media, and television. As the third largest department in the College of Liberal Arts, we offer access to all the resources you need to excel— including labs, internships, and the opportunity to work at JSU’s TV and radio stations.
