Research Camp

Scholars and staffThe Jackson Heart Study Research Camp consists of an annual one-week intensive program focused on enhancing the Daniel Hale Williams Scholars overall quality of research, knowledge about academic research, and oral and written communication skills.  The theme is “Reading, Writing, Surviving, and Thriving,” this annual research camp will utilize didactic and interactive approaches targeting first-year scholars.  Lecturers and exercises will:

  1. Address how to read and critique the scientific literature
     
  2. Enhance skills in scientific writing 
     
  3. Enhance skills in research evaluation, statistics, and design of epidemiological studies
     
  4. Provide guidance on career navigation
