Jackson State University was approved by the Board of Trustees of the Institutions of Higher Learning of the State of Mississippi to begin its Ph.D. program in clinical psychology in 1995. Its inaugural doctoral candidates. The American Psychological Association (APA) awarded our clinical program accreditation in 2001. The program was first reaccredited in 2005. Since then, the program has been reaccredited in 2010 and 2016. The program is currently undergoing the reaccreditation process with APA’s Commission on Accreditation for 2021 with COVID delays for the site visitor component of the re-accreditation process. Expected completion of site visit by summer of 2022.
