Though our academic departments and support centers, we continue to pursue our mission of providing our students an enriched learning environment to nourish and support their academic and career aspirations, and prepare them to become problem solvers and successful business leaders. Our diverse faculty and staff engage in a variety of activities to foster an understanding of business by professionals, provide research-driven solutions to business-centered issues as an academic discipline, and promote the economic and social advancement of the local area, the State of Mississippi, the nation and the world. Our faculty serves as academic and research advisors and mentors to our undergraduate and graduate students. They assist them in the development of their communicative, analytical and research skills, and help them achieve recognition through academic publication. Their collaborative scholarly works and achievements are widely recognized, published and cited in regional, national and international peer-reviewed journals and books. Additionally, faculty, staff and administrators continue to engage in fund-raising and development activities that have resulted, over the years, in significant financial contributions to help support the college’s scholarship funds and its various development activities.
Our Career Management and Placement Center provides an effective liaison with the local and national business community and attract business representatives to the College to recruit our students for internship and permanent professional positions within their corporations.
Our Center for Business Development and Economic Research (CBDER) houses the Small Business Development Center which provides counseling, technical assistance and training to the small business community of our area and region. The Small Business Development Center (JSU/SBDC) provides assistance to small businesses in order to promote growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity, and management improvement. The JSU/SBDC plays a vital part in fulfilling the College's mission of service to the community. Through its technical assistance activities, small businesses receive the counsel, support, and advice necessary for success.
In the College of Business, we serve our students, our community and our small businesses. We are part of a university known and acclaimed for its service to the community. We value our responsibility to our students and the community, and we know that we must use our intellectual resources to help foster its growth and development.
