Welcome to the Richard Wright Writing Center for Writing, Rhetoric, and Research at Jackson State University. Our mission is to provide support and resources to help students become more confident, skilled, and independent writers.
Our Richard Wright Writing Center for Writing, Rhetoric, and Research offers a variety of services to students of all levels and disciplines. Our services include:
- One-on-one writing consultations: Our writing consultants work with students at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and outlining to revising and editing.
- Workshops and Writing groups: Our workshops and writing groups provide students with the opportunity to learn about different writing strategies and techniques in a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Writing resources: Our website and online resources offer a wealth of information on writing skills and strategies, as well as tips for academic writing, research, and citation.

Tatiana Glushko, PhD, Coordinator

Dr. Glushko trains undergraduate and graduate peer writing advisors, develops and facilitates workshops on academic writing, and offers on-to-one and group consultations to students and faculty. Dr. Glushko conducts research on writing centers and their role in student writing. She presents at two to three conferences annually, publishes in academic journals, and reviews and provides feedback on research articles and grant proposals to colleagues. With native proficiency in Russian, Dr. Glushko has international experience in teaching and research. She serves on the board of the Mississippi Writing Center Association and maintains certification in mental health first aid.
Jerome Bronson, Graduate Writing Advisor
Jerome Bronson is a writing tutor and a Doctor of Public Health candidate at Jackson State University. After completing research fellowships at Harvard University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), he gained experience in methodological design, strategic literature synthesis, and the importance of academic tone. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and a Master of Science in Hazardous Material Management, providing insight into the conventions of both technical and health sciences literature. He views academic writing as a collaborative process of critical thinking and reflection.
Chandra Pollard, Graduate Writing Advisor
Chandra Pollard is a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She has extensive experience in teaching, teacher development, and educational program leadership. Throughout her career, she has served as a classroom teacher, educational leader, and program administrator, managing programs designed to improve teacher effectiveness, student achievement, and instructional outcomes. Upon completion of her doctorate, she plans to continue serving in higher education through teaching, research, and leadership roles that support educator development and student success.
Rennie Viah, Graduate Writing Advisor
Rennie Viah is a public health professional, project manager, epidemiologist, registered nurse, educator, and researcher with more than 16 years of experience across nursing, public health, health systems strengthening, education, and the humanitarian sector. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology, and a Master of Arts in Education Administration and Supervision. He is also a PhD candidate in Public Health, specializing in Maternal Healthcare-Seeking Behavior, at Njala University in Sierra Leone. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Epidemiology at Jackson State University in Mississippi. His current DrPH research focuses on cardiovascular disease risk and prevention among underserved communities in the United States. Following completion of his doctoral studies at Jackson State University, he intends to continue advancing cardiovascular disease epidemiology through research, public health practice, and evidence-informed interventions.
